So a few things that came to my mind as I was reading your newsletter, Shaikh:
1) "I knew that if I stayed comfortable, I would be fine for a few years. Eventually, my growth would stop."
A lot of people fall off because complacent, not interested, face obstacles. After university, they stop learning and growing at all. And making the transitions from one thing to another must not have been easy, so good for you for pivoting early and staying ahead of the curve!
2) "Find a mentor early"
I would add find the RIGHT mentor. I always believed in the proper guidance speeding up the learning curve and accelerating your growth.
3) "Early on, I took courses end to end. That was useful for building foundations."
Reminded me of my almost mindless consumption of courses for many years, especially when felt less stable/satisfied with my income, life etc. Now I select, not collect.
I love your addition that it’s important to find a right mentor. Otherwise, if the mentor is not aligned with someone's goal, then the mentorship ladder will be leaning on the wrong wall. Thanks for reading this post and sharing your insights, Zarina.
I am considering 😃
Cool. From our chat, I see you're already well in that path. :)
